Challenge
Kupona Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Saratoga Springs, New York that supports the efforts of Comprehensive Community-Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT)—Tanzania’s premier sustainable hospital system. Kupona Foundation partnered with Openbox to strengthen its messaging strategy and increase engagement with prospective donors in advance of a fundraising push to build a new maternal hospital.

Solution
Leveraging a design thinking approach, we identified the opportunity space for Kupona Foundation to best articulate its vision and reach a new audience. To validate our messaging concepts, we designed and sent a personalized direct-mail touchpoint to top donors. Our robust research was captured in a research snapshot and a persona-based messaging guide.

My Contribution
I created the project calendar and ensured that my team stayed on track from research through production. In the research phase, I coordinated and facilitated interviews with 15+ stakeholders, participated in team brainstorms and insight-generation sessions, conducted a comparative messaging audit, and optimized several surveys. In the production phase, I wrote copy in collaboration with the Project Lead for the award-winning direct mail touchpoint (pictured below). I also managed day-to-day client communications throughout the project.
